THE SALSA STANDARD

The SALSA standard was written by experienced food safety experts to reflect both the legal requirements of producers and the enhanced expectations of 'best practice' of professional food buyers. Approval certification is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to a SALSA auditor that they are able to produce and supply safe and legal food, and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.

SALSA Audits currently use the following issues:
  • Food & Drink Production Standard - Issue 5
  • SALSA plus Cheese Standard - Issue 5
  • SALSA plus Beer Standard - Issue 3
  • Brokers, Storage & Distribution Standard - Issue 1

From the 1st September 2022 SALSA Standards change to the following:
  • Food & Drink Production Standard - Issue 6
  • SALSA plus Cheese Standard - Issue 6
  • SALSA plus Beer Standard - Issue 4
  • Brokers, Storage & Distribution Standard - No Change
  • Introducing SALSA plus Ice Cream Standard Issue 1

SALSA plus audits compose of a regular SALSA Standard plus additonal requirements for either Cheese, Beer or Ice Cream.
