Description

We are a Co-operative company managed by Chairman, Pat Close and 4 Directors. We have 3 managers assisting in the day to day operations with approximately 15 staff on site, although there is some seasonal variation. The Co-operative manages the collection and distribution of the live eels for the Fishermen, licensed to fish on Lough Neagh. Currently we ship live eels to England & Holland, where these are either sold fresh, smoked or jellied. We have a new processing plant for the eviscerating and/or skinning eels to be made available to our current customers (B2B) and also to be purchased from our site by local consumers. We are also hoping to introduce scaled fish for gutting such as Pollen, Trout, Perch etc. The long term objectives are to 1. Extend our fresh/frozen products to restaurants, local stores, retail both UK & EU. 2. Add value to fresh/frozen products 3. Produce smoked eel products, initially in conjunction with a local smoke house - trials are underway. We have a PGI for Lough Neagh Eels and currently operate an Eel Management Plan.
