SALSA launches new Brokers, Storage and Distribution Standard

Having successfully approved thousands of businesses against our Food and Drink Production Standard, SALSA’s widely recognised food safety certification scheme is now open to those involved in the brokerage, storage and distribution of food products.

Aimed at the UK’s smaller food and drink businesses, the new Brokers, Storage and Distribution (BSD) Standard will be of particular interest to local wholesalers, fine food and speciality distributors and UK-based food brands who outsource their manufacturing.

This new standard will bring more small and local suppliers under the SALSA umbrella, enabling SALSA to provide food safety assurance across the supply chain. This is especially important as food safety standards have never been under closer scrutiny. Now more businesses will have the opportunity to demonstrate they operate to SALSA’s recognised and widely accepted safety and legal standards.

SALSA certification is only granted to businesses that can demonstrate they are capable of supplying safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.
