Work for Auditors & Mentors

Suppliers book their audits online and the work is allocated centrally by SALSA operations to the Auditor whose base is the closest to the Supplier and with the matching 'field of experience' the Supplier requires as verified by the IFST PFAM Register.  A 'standard' audit is intended designed to take place over a four-hour period plus one hour of online reporting back at your base. The actual time spent with the Supplier will naturally vary dependent on size, readiness and other circumstances.   Auditors will be paid on completion of the work by SALSA at a fixed rate based on five hours work. To find out more about the current audit rate, contact SALSA by telephone.

Suppliers opting to hire Mentors, either directly or through local funding support channels (eg Local or Regional Food Groups, Technology Centres or supporting Buyers) will appoint them directly. Only SALSA approved Mentors will be permitted to work on the scheme and by publishing guidelines for Mentor day rates on the Supplier Member's section of this website, SALSA will ensure there is a level playing field for our approved Mentors to operate on.

Suppliers can identify and approach a Mentor who is most local and qualified by searching the exclusive online directory of SALSA approved Mentors.

How much auditing and mentoring work generated in the UK regions will depend on the success of the scheme, the number of successful Auditor and Mentor applicants with the right experience to match up with Suppliers and the speed at which regional and national funding for SALSA suppliers comes on stream.

We will, if necessary, cap the number of Auditors and Mentors in certain regions to ensure there is a sensible level of work everyone who has registered and been accepted for SALSA work.
